Tea Isn’t All About Heat: Enjoy Summer With a Refreshing Iced Tea!
We love a good, steamy cup of tea as much as anybody. But tea doesn’t have to be hot to be delicious!
There’s a reason why so many people love iced tea. (In fact, 84% of tea brewed in America is for iced tea!)
With the weather warming up and family gatherings just around the corner, iced tea is a great way to stay refreshed and enjoy your favorite tea!
So...How Do I Brew Iced Tea?
We hear from many people who are intimidated to try iced tea at home! They want to know how to brew that perfect cup. With the cold brew method, it’s easy to get perfect iced tea every time!
Here’s how it works:
Scoop five rounded teaspoons of loose-leaf tea into a pitcher, then add five cups of room temperature filtered water. (If you want more or less tea, just stick to that 1:1 ratio—one teaspoon of tea for every cup of water!)
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours. (We prefer leaving it overnight to let it steep even longer!)
Pour the tea through a filter, over ice, and enjoy!
Why Cold Brew?
Cold brew is actually one of the best ways to enjoy tea! Cold water releases more of the tea’s flavor—it just takes longer than with hot water. That’s why cold brewing iced tea produces a smooth tea without a bitter flavor.
If you’re pressed for time, you can skip the cold brew and go with the fast method: just brew your tea with hot water as usual and pour that over ice for an instant cup! (This will probably result in a slightly more bitter tea than the cold brew method, but if the iced tea craving hits you and you don’t have time to wait, it’s a great option!)
