The Trouble With Modern Tea— 3 Tea Types to Avoid (And What to Drink Instead!)

For centuries, people have turned to tea as a way to heal, a way to soothe, and a way to stop and enjoy the moment! That’s what we believe tea is all about— taking time to care for yourself and put something wholesome into your body.

But tea is also a thriving money-making product, and in pursuit of a piece of that pie, some companies have forgotten what tea is all about!

Today, we’re going to talk about three ways NOT to drink tea, and why the way you drink tea really does matter.

The Trouble with Tea Bags

When you branch into the world of tea, one of the first decisions you make is “tea bags or loose leaf?”

It’s tempting to go for the tea bags. They’re cheaper, easier to deal with, and don’t require any special equipment.

But when you opt for tea bags, you’re sacrificing quality. Tea bags are made from the dusty remnants of what’s left after whole leaf tea is processed. That means when you buy tea bags, you’re buying leftovers.

Those leftovers are secondhand tea, secondhand flavor, and secondhand quality! You deserve more than tea residue— you deserve quality, whole tea that comforts your body and mind.

Medicinal Teas— Potent but Off-Putting

Those who turn to tea for healing might find themselves buying “medicinal” teas. These teas are usually made of a handful of ingredients designed for single purposes— sleep, digestion, immunity, sore throats.

On one hand, these teas work. They serve their purpose, targeting an ailment, healing, helping. Unfortunately, they’re also designed to throw back and drink— not to savor and soothe.

They’re bland at best, undrinkable at worst. Sure, it’s nice to not have a sore throat...but if you had to hold your nose to drink it, was it really worth it?

Crystals and Powders: Convenience that Misses the Point

We’re living in an instant world, and some tea companies have tried to embrace that, producing tea alternatives that produce a quick cup.

Tea “crystals” are processed from whole leaves that are brewed, dried, and packaged into an instant-dissolve tea.

Then there are tea “drops”— powdered tea that’s been pulverized into cute little bricks bound by sweeteners. Drop the tiny tea shape into your cup, and voila!

It sounds great on the surface— tea without all the time and effort! But they miss the entire purpose of tea.

What Tea Should Be

Tea should be whole. It should unfurl in your cup, steeping to perfection as it carries the power of nature, transforming the water into something new, strong, and wonderful.

Most importantly, it should make you slow down, force you to spend a few moments brewing, smelling, tasting, and giving your body something whole and wholesome.

It shouldn’t be processed or packed with sugar. It shouldn’t be unbearable to taste. It shouldn’t be made of dusty remains.

That’s why we’re dedicated to making tea that lifts you up, that invites you to enjoy it.

At Teamotions, our teas are whole, loose-leaf, unprocessed. They’re free from sugar and artificial sweeteners. And they’re created to taste delicious, offer your body, mind, and soul the very best, and give you a few moments of natural beauty and peace.

We invite you to return to the true root of tea. Try one of our teas today, and enjoy whole, delicious, unprocessed tea that gives you the experience, the quality, and the moment you deserve!
